In 2012, the South Carolina Supreme Court ruled in State v. Langford that the state's Solicitor's did not have authority to manage dockets for criminal cases. Since that time, management of the criminal docket has been, at least in theory, the responsibility of the Courts. Despite operating under a "unified court system," there is no unified set of court rules for docketing criminal cases in South Carolina.
In July 2017, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Chief Administrative Judge for Charleston County issued a case management order for Charleston County. Information regarding the General Sessions Docket is located at the Charleston County Clerk of Court's CourtPlus.org website.
Other case information can be found on the public index which is located at https://jcmsweb.charlestoncounty.org/publicindex/
We attempt to keep the dockets updated based on the latest information available to us. You can view the Berkeley County General Sessions Trial Docket here. Please remember that these dockets are the work product of the Solicitor's Office and are not official court notices.
